Attention Latina Playwrights!

Has the story behind In the Heights got you inspired? Lin-Manuel Miranda has motivated the playwright in us all, but it’s time to hand the pen over to some Latinas. You can be the next big Broadway musical writer, or maybe just a dramatist behind the next local play at La Pregunta Arts Café. Whatever your scope, you can best hone your skills at The Fantastic Latina Playwright’s Lab, a creative writing program based on script developing skills. Gloria Zelaya began the series with hopes of stimulating women’s participation in the playwriting industry.

The writing sessions will be held every other Saturday  starting September 6th, from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. for the duration of 4 months, and are open to all women over 18. The course will be taught by established female playwrights like Carmen Rivera and Tere Martinez, and will include a script writing class.

As a bonus, the three most compelling plays will be presented to the public in staged readings, mounted by a professional director and actors. One of these three plays will be produced as part of The Fantastic Experimental Latino Theater annual production.

For more information and registration, check their MySpace page, or contact The Fantastic Experimental Latino Theater at (212) 228-3705. There is a non refundable registration fee of $160.00
