Ecuador’s independence is May 24. This is the day the war ended and Spain was defeated. August 10th was “El primer Grito de Independencia” basically the first attempt and where all the efforts for independence started. Ecuadorians don’t take August 10th as independence because the war lasted for 13 years, til 1822.
