Bad Bunny and Kendall Jenner attended the Los Angeles Lakers playoff game Friday (May 12) at Crypto.com Arena, and onlookers couldn’t help but compare the celebrity couple to a popular meme that features a guy “mansplaining” something to his flustered girlfriend. This includes memes like Bro Explaining and Guy Explaining.
The unfortunate photo was captured during the portion of the game where the network cuts to celebrities watching the game from their floor seats in the arena. When it cuts to Bad Bunny and Jenner, he leans in to tell her something in her ear.
The comparisons to other “mansplaining” memes began soon after.
New York Times best-selling author and TV series creator Shea Serrano (Primo) imagined that Bad Bunny was telling Jenner all about the plot from one of his favorite movies, the 1988 martial arts movie Bloodsport.
Or maybe Bad Bunny was just trying to figure out why he chose his stage name in the first place. He’s not a real bunny after all.
Even companies like Merriam-Webster took an opportunity to tease the couple with their own photo caption. Maybe he was just explaining the finer points of grammar to her.
Filmmaker Jorge Gutierrez (Book of Life) suggested that Bad Bunny was merely explaining why animated movies are not just for kids.
Or maybe he was asking Jenner if she wanted a Pepsi and it triggered her.
