The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced the co-chairs for the Met Gala 2024, and the names include two very famous artists from our communities: Jennifer Lopez and Bad Bunny. They will be joined by Zendaya and Chris Hemsworth, with Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew as Honorary Chairs.

The job of the co-chairs is essentially to help fundraise, promote, and publicize the event through interviews, social media, and more. In other words, before the actual event, they’ll be talking about it and making sure the general public is aware of the event. But their responsibilities don’t stop there.

During the special night, they will then serve as hosts, and welcome the guests onto the red carpet as they make their way to dinner. They will be joined by Vogue’s Editor in Chief, Anna Wintour.

The theme for this year’s Gala is “The Garden of Time.” Vogue describes it as “a celebration of clothing and fashion so fragile that it can’t ever be worn again – and are therefore sleeping beauties in the scrupulously maintained archives of The Costume Institute.”

For Bad Bunny, this will be his third year at the Met Gala. Jennifer Lopez, meanwhile, has attended the gala thirteen times before.
