To all the norteño vocalists out there: you now have a chance to become Calibre 50’s next frontman. Yes, that’s really happening. Following the news that the founder, vocalist, and accordionist Edén Muñoz is going solo after 12 years with the band, Calibre 50 announced that they will be accepting submissions via email in the search for their next singer.

What’s the process? The first step is pretty simple: you have to be 18-years-old, and film yourself singing their hits “Corrido de Juanito” or “Contigo.” Assuming you’re a die-hard fan already, it shouldn’t be too much of a challenge to record yourself jamming out. The actual challenge is getting an in-person audition, which organizers will be deciding on based on the emailed footage alone.

Since their beginning, Calibre 50 has achieved and broken streaming records, one of them boasting 21 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart – and they’re not planning on slowing down. They have converted this departure into an epic opportunity of a lifetime. Jesus Tirada, the president of Andaluz Music, told Billboard: “We are celebrating 12 years of great success. A story is always written with different chapters so today we begin to write our next chapter. We are grateful to God for so many blessings, and to the public for all their support and unconditional love. We are sure that the story continues because the union and respect in our company are what has led us to be what we are today.”

Excited about it? The campaign for Calibre 50’s new vocalist is already in motion using the hashtag #YoSoyCalibre50. There are already video submissions circulating on Instagram in hopes of being chosen to advance to the in-person auditions.

An Instagram user already uploaded their submission as a clear example of what you must do.

Think you have what it takes? Good luck to all the participants!
