Cardi B is back to what she seems to be doing on a consistent basis — defending herself from online attacks.

This time, the war of words happened between the “Bodak Yellow” icon and MMA fighter Jake Shields. Late last week, Shields took to Twitter to defend his friend Andrew Tate by dragging Cardi B into the conversation. Tate is a former kickboxer, reality TV star, and misogynistic social media “influencer” who was banned this month from Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok for violating company policies on hate speech. In the past, Tate has described himself as “absolutely a misogynist.”

“People are freaking out about young boys looking up to Andrew Tate but totally fine with young girls looking up to Cardi B and the Kardashians,” Shields tweeted.

Shields continued in another tweet: “Tate’s main message is stop being lazy and making excuses and go work hard and get in shape and make money,” he said. “Cardi’s is go do drugs, fuck random men, and go through life as a brain dead moron.”

In a now-deleted tweet, Cardi responded to Tate. “I’m married, I don’t smoke weed, I don’t pop pills, I don’t do coke, I’m a mom of 2 kids and I do a lot of charity work,” she wrote. “But hey let me put Cardi into it to defend a man who defends misogyny and rape.”

Tate was originally banned from Twitter five years ago after he said women “bear responsibility” if they are sexually assaulted, which is an abhorrent claim. Meta officials also said his recent ban from Facebook and Instagram was because he was in violation of “policies on dangerous organizations and individuals.” And in 2016, Tate was removed from the British version of the reality TV series Big Brother after a video surfaced of him allegedly hitting a woman with a belt.
