Cardi B is getting some more love from the music community for her recent generosity. Hip-hop legend Kurtis Blow is the latest person to thank Cardi for offering to pay for the funeral expenses of all 17 victims of the Bronx apartment fire that happened earlier this month.

“Now, I have heard that Cardi B came forward and she has promised to pay for the funerals of the people who passed away, which is incredible,” Blow told HipHopDX. “God bless her heart. We love you Cardi B. We thank you for your involvement.”

Blow made his statement during a Zoom call with other musicians in attendance like Public Enemy’s Chuck D, Whodini’s Grandmaster Dee, and Grandmaster Flash.

The cause of the January 9 fire, which happened at the 19-story Bronx Twin Parks apartments, is believed to have been a faulty space heater. Among the 17 victims were eight children. It is the deadliest fire in New York City in three decades.

“This was a sudden event that happened, so this is why we had to stand up and come together at the last minute,” Blow said during the call. “We want to give to these families that have been affected by this fire, mostly people of color, Black and brown people, that are affected. So, we wanted to come by and show our support by way of donations.”

Recently, Cardi also received gratitude from a man who lost five family members in the fire. “I would say, ‘Cardi B, you are an angel,’” Dukuray told TMZ. “I can’t thank you enough. My family can’t thank you enough for what you have done.”
