On Friday (November 11), Cardi B posted a heartfelt tribute to Takeoff, the cousin of her husband Offset and a former member of their Grammy-nominated hip-hop trio Migos. Takeoff was shot and killed in Houston earlier this month.

“Takeoff your untimely passing has brought a great deal of pain and sorrow to so many lives,” Cardi B started her post, which included a series of photos of the late rapper. “The impact you had in this world was so considerable and we have struggled to grasp this tragedy. I am heartbroken but I am grateful for all the precious memories we got to share while you were here with us. This has truly been a nightmare and the pain is incomparable.”

Cardi B went on to describe the “emptiness” Offset and Quavo, the third member of Migos, were feeling and asked him to give everyone the strength they need to cope with his death. “I believe that angels send signs and beautiful dreams to loved ones to assure them that they’re watching them and they’re okay and happy,” Cardi B wrote. “Send your mom some of those.”

She also shared how Takeoff’s death was affecting her and what Migos’ music has meant to her as a fan of the group. “It hurts me to look at pictures and videos of y’all together and hearing y’all songs that changed the music industry and moved the culture and had the clubs lit,” she wrote. “It hurts because I know it will never be the same again – but I know your bros and y’all fans will make sure the world never forgets the impact you made.”

Cardi B ended her tribute by telling Takeoff that she will always remember his “remarkable talent” and “dope-ass personality.” She also prayed that he had found peace. “I know God opened the heavenly gates for you with a warm embrace,” she wrote. “Rest in power TakeOff. I will also love you 4L & after.”
