The 2024 Met Gala kicked off with some stunning looks from the A-list celebrities who graced the green carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night (May 6). One of the best-dressed gentlemen of the evening was Colman Domingo, who wore a striking ivory-colored blazer and matching cape to the glamorous event.

Fashion designer Willy Chavarria, the founder of his namesake label and the senior vice president of design at Calvin Klein, put the look together for Domingo, who also wore a pair of black wide-leg pants, black shoes and carried a bouquet of white calla lilies. The flowers (not to mention his colored green contact lenses) were a perfect accessory for this year’s Gala theme, “The Garden of Time.”

“[The Met Gala] is the Super Bowl of fashion,” Domingo said at the event. “It’s been magical to be invited here. I didn’t take this lightly. I wanted to make sure I collaborated with someone special like Willy Chavarria, who created this beautiful outfit for me. It’s Willy’s quintessential style. It references the 1940s and some Chicano culture. All of it feels hot and street and sexy.”

Colman wasn’t the only one who thought he brought his A-game to the Met Gala. Plenty of fans online were impressed with his look. The majority of them thought he slayed.

Just as soon as the event started, Esquire magazine already placed Domingo on their list for Best Dressed Men of the evening.

It’s an easy decision to put Domingo on a best-dressed list when his history as a fashion icon is well documented.
