The sentiment might have been coming from a good place, but singer Demi Lovato is hearing it from Twitter users who thought her tweet about the attack on the U.S. Capitol was ridiculous.

In her post, she said she was “angry, embarrassed and ashamed” about pro-Trump rioters breaching the Capitol building to stop the certification of Joe Biden’s presidential win. But then she went on to write that she was “in the studio working on something special after today’s assault on democracy.”

Twitter users were quick to pounce on Lovato and mock the idea that going into a studio to write or record music would somehow save the country.

Others were happy to help Lovato with a few lyrics in case she needed some inspiration.

Some people imagined how awkward it might be for other people in the studio watching Lovato wearing her heart on her sleeve through song. One posted an old clip from Real Housewives of New Jersey.

In October, Lovato released the song “Commander in Chief” about Donald Trump’s presidency. Lyrics include, “But you can’t get enough of shutting down systems for personal gain/Fightin’ fire with flyers and praying for rain. Do you get off on pain? We’re not pawns in your game.”

Twitter users wondered why she was trying to make money off a tragedy instead of, say, donating money to a charitable cause?
