Democracy or Democrazy?

We live in one of the world’s most rigid bi-partisan systems where it’s hard to conceive that anyone but republicans or democrats can ever occupy the White House. The focus remains on the candidates with the largest bank accounts who can afford to play the game. Today kicks off the National Green Party Convention in Chicago where their party’s presidential candidate will be nominated.

This is an exciting election where more of us have felt part of the rhetoric, de todas maneras it is still a good idea to become more familiar with other emerging political parties- even if it’s just to pretend like we do live in a participatory democracy. My respects to those who continue to organize and challenge the existing structure. Chicago has always been the blue spot in Midwest sea of red voters, and for the next four days sprinkle some green in there too.
