A good friend and talented photographer/filmmaker Sean Mattison is in Mexico right now for the Morelia International Film Festival, and has been capturing some lovely shots of the Día de los Muertos celebrations. Sean says:

After a hectic journey out of post-Sandy NY I made it onto a flight at JFK and arrived in Mexico in time for Day of the Dead. Everywhere I turn there are orange flowers & skeleton figures commemorating loved ones lost. It always amazes me when I leave the US how much more death is considered a part of life while it remains taboo/swept under the rug at home in the midst of the daily grind. I’m on assignment here for the next couple weeks and will hopefully capture something essential in these little moments.
