It looks like Alexa Demie (Euphoria) may have cut ties with Balenciaga over the luxury fashion house’s recent controversial ad campaign.

According to eagle-eyed fans on social media, Demie deleted all her Balenciaga-related posts and unfollowed the brand on Instagram. This comes two months after Vogue published an article titled, “Alexa Demie Isn’t Done With Her Balenciaga Era Just Yet.”

In the article, Vogue writes that Demie is a “true Balenciaga girl. She’s been almost exclusively sporting Demna’s designs for all of her recent appearances.”

Demie said: “I have always been drawn to designs from the past, the silhouettes, craft and creativity. I really felt that spark I’ve had for those designs in Demna’s pieces and process. I gravitate toward things that feel timeless, but also new and different. Something I have not yet experienced.”

Balenciaga came under fire last month when its holiday ad campaign featured children carrying plush teddy bears wearing bondage outfits. Soon after, #CancelBalenciaga was trending on social media and critics were accusing the company of promoting pedophilia and child exploitation.

Late last month, Balenciaga responded on social media by stating that the “bears … should not have been featured with children in this campaign. We take this matter very seriously and are taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items for our spring 23 campaign photoshoot. We strongly condemn abuse of children in any form. We stand for children’s safety and well-being.”

Two weeks ago, Kim Kardashian said she was “disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns” in what was seen as a weak apology that signaled she would continue with the brand.

Demie has not made a statement on why she seems to have purged Balenciaga from her social media platforms, with some pointing out that deleting all public association with Balenciaga is not a denouncement. A statement must be made instead.
