Where’s daytime talk show host Maury Povich when you need him? “Elvis Crespo…you are NOT the father!” The merenguero released a funny video on social media last week to dispel rumors that he is the real father of Spanish singer and songwriter Rosalía.

“Rosalía is not my daughter,” Crespo wrote alongside the Tiktok video, which features the “Suavemente” singer using an app to transform himself into the Barcelona-born star.

The video was all in good fun, of course. Memes have been circulating online for the past couple of years pushing the rumor that Crespo is Rosalía’s father. People have also posted side-by-side photos showing how much the musicians resemble one another.

Crespo seemed to take it all in stride when he posted the transformation video of his face changing into Rosalía’s. Many social media users appreciated the fact that he could have such a good sense of humor about the rumor.

We’ll give Crespo the benefit of the doubt and won’t argue that he is not Rosalía’s father, but the transformation video he created only supports the idea that the artists could very well be the same person. If Crespo and Rosalía agreed to a collab, they’d have to record in the studio at the same time. Then, we’d know for sure that they were separate people. Has anyone seen them in the same room together?

Elvis Crespo is probably safe from that rumor getting out of hand though. He released “Suavemente” in 1998 when Rosalía was only six years old, so the math doesn’t add up. We’re being facetious, of course, just like Crespo. See how fun the internet can be?
