Exit polls suggest Donald Trump made major gains with the Latine community compared to 2020 numbers. According to NBC News exit polls, 12% of the voters identified as Hispanic or Latino; the split for those voters was 53% Democrat and 45% Republican. He is projected to win the 2024 Presidential election.
In 2020 those same exit polls showed that 13% of the electorate identified themselves as Hispanic or Latino and the split was 65% Democrats, 32% Republican. That’s a significant gain for the Trump campaign, despite the recent controversies over comedian Tony Hinchcliffe calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage,” and the overwhelming support from Latino celebrities to the Kamala Harris campaign.
Former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julián Castro discussed on Wednesday (November 6th) the evolving Latino support for Donald Trump on an MSNBC panel, saying the election would “rewrite how the parties approach Latinos.” Castro also added, “It’s clear he [Trump] made significant gains.”
But Castro also said “I do think that we have to reckon with the deeper forces that play a role. What role does misogyny play? What role does still existing racism or bias play? It seems like these days we almost don’t want to ask those questions as much and I think that’s part of the problem that allows somebody like Donald Trump to get elected.”

If he wins, Donald Trump will be inaugurated as President on January 20, 2025 after losing the 2020 election, attempting to overthrow the results, facing two separate impeachments, a criminal conviction, and countless other criminal charges.
