Harassment isn’t a thing only women in entertainment suffer, but sometimes people are surprised to hear the powerful women they see on their TV screens can also be victims of harassment. But Flans and Pandora are coming forward to make it clear that this isn’t an isolated event, and that they support Sasha Sokol, and all women.

The former Timbiriche star Sokol recently came forward with accusations against producer Luis de Llano, who she had a “relationship” with in the 80s. The air quotes around the word relationship, of course, come from the fact that there’s no consensual relationship between a 14-year-old and a 39-year-old man, as Sokol and the producer were when they first got involved.

For the members of Flans and Pandora, coming forward with these accusations requires a lot of bravery, and they were all fully supportive. Let us remember a Flans video that saw the three members of the group confront harassment they received on live television that went viral not that long ago. This is something they also brought up during a press conference to discuss their next concerts.

“I think every woman in this country (has been harassed), not necessarily coming from an artistic field, but on trucks, on the streets, everywhere.” Flans Ilse said, with Pandora’s Isabel adding that the time frame women come forward in shouldn’t be questioned.

Harassment is, sadly, an experience common to most women, regardless of age range, profession, ethnicity or sexual orientation. And though it isn’t a problem that can be solved just by women, it’s important for celebrities to use their voices to lift other women up when they come forward with allegations. Flans and Pandora are supporting Sasha Sokol, and so should we all.
