Gerard Piqué is getting some major blowback from the internet after the former fútbol player posted a photo of himself with his new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti on Wednesday (January 25).
Piqué has been linked to Marti as early as three months after he and Shakira called it quits last year amid allegations of infidelity on the part of Piqué – with Marti.
“I just feel like this is all a bad dream and that I’m going to wake up at some point,” Shakira said after the breakup. “But no, it’s real.” Being the icon that she is, she took all that pain to the recording studio and came out with a stunning track that has scored her first-ever Hot 100 Top 10 Debut.
As the internet does, they took to social media pages to let Piqué know how they felt about his photo/announcement. On the photo itself, some of the comments on included, “We’re all Team Shakira” and “You traded a Rolex for a Casio.”
Over on TikTok, user @hellotefi posted a video commenting on him and Marti and reminded viewers that Shakira referenced her in her diss track on “BZRP Music Sessions #53.”
“I cannot imagine being one of [Marti’s] girlfriends and reading the comments on Instagram,” @hellotefi told her 1.6 million followers. “How can you say you love this girl and leave the comments on? That’s crazy.”
In another TikTok video, user Arianna Davis (@ariannagdavis) said that Shakira has every right to drag Piqué through the mud after what he’s put her through. She added that Piqué posting a photo with Marti smells of desperation.
“He did some messed up stuff to her,” Davis says. “But all of a sudden, guess who’s just debuting his new girlfriend on Instagram. This little F-boy right here. Team Shakira all the way. Gerard needs to go somewhere because…”
Davis may not have finished her thought, but we’re fairly sure Shakira fans know where that somewhere is.
This all comes after Gerard Piqué was captured awkwardly sitting through fans singing Shakira’s latest hit at a game.
