On the running list of plane nightmares (intense turbulence, being trapped next to someone who farts for the duration of the flight, crying babies, etc.), a giant, five foot snake falling out of the overhead bins onto your head would be enough to send me into years of therapy.
But the IRL plot of Snakes on a Plane is basically what happened on Aeroméxico Flight 231 from Ciudad de Torreón to Mexico City, as captured by one of the flight’s passengers in this video below:
Luckily, no one was physically harmed. After it was spotted by passengers, the flight made a priority landing and the snake was captured. “The procedures carried out for this flight are currently being evaluated to determine how the animal entered the cabin and measures have been taken to avoid such incidents in the future,” the airline said in a statement to CNN.
