In a year when the hype around Lin-Manuel Miranda’s breakout Broadway hit Hamilton seemed like it couldn’t get any more intense, it just did. This morning, the musical received a record 16 Tony nominations –including a nomination for Best Musical – shattering the previous record and making Broadway history.

This is just the latest in a string of accolades and recognitions that both the show and its creator have swept up recently, including Lin-Manuel’s recent Pulitzer Prize for Drama, his MacArthur genius grant, a grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, and being named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People. Plus, Michelle Obama called Hamilton “the best piece of art in any form that I have ever seen in my life,” a compliment that is arguably equivalent to 39023901 Tony nominations.

Basically, if you were a Broadway musical not named Hamilton this year, we’re sorry for your loss.
