Rapper J Balvin is ready to hit the neighborhood basketball court – at night. The reggaeton star recently teased his new glow-in-the-dark Air Jordan 2 shoes that light up with just a push of a button.

This is the second collaboration between Balvin and Nike. The first came last year when he released the Air Jordan 1 x J Balvin. With the partnership, Balvin became the first Latine artist to work with Nike on the release of a shoe. The Air Jordan 1 x J Balvin immediately sold out when it hit online stores in December 2020.

While those shoes were designed with a lot of bright colors, the glow-in-the-dark Air Jordan 2 shoes look more monochromatic, although it’s a bit difficult to see all the elements of the shoe in the photo Balvin posted on social media.

The upper portion of the shoe looks like it has padding, and there doesn’t seem to be a visible Nike logo on the side of the shoe. The second photo Balvin provides is less clear since the shoes are displayed in the dark. The only things visible are the glowing tongue and sole of the sneaker.

Last month, Nike released its shoe line, “Siempre Familia,” to commemorate the Latin American tradition of Dia de Los Muertos. Now, with its continued collaboration with Balvin, it looks like Nike is serious about reaching a bigger Latine audience.

Balvin, too, seems to be on a roll with sponsorships. Just this year, the “Prince of Reggaeton” teamed up with several brands like Major League Baseball, Fortnite, and Pokémon.

There’s no release date for Balvin’s new shoes yet, but if you’re a sneakerhead, stay tuned, so you don’t miss out when they drop.
