In the early 1940s, audiences were first introduced to the not so-easy-to-grasp Archie Andrews-Betty Cooper-Veronica Lodge love triangle. Betty and Veronica were best friends who fought for the same guy, which is probably not how it would work out in real life. This year, Archie got a complete makeover by Mark Waid and Fiona Staples, and the love triangle is gone. Staples had the daunting task of visually recreating this world. However, Comic Book reports that because she was also committed to Saga, Annie Wu would start taking over with the fourth issue. For Wu’s first issue, which is out in November, cartoonist Jaime Hernandez has drawn a variant cover with his own reimagining of the characters. Hernandez is known for being the co-creator of the 1980s alternative comic series Love & Rockets. Luckily, you don’t have to wait until November to see Hernandez’s version.
