While Alex Rodriguez is still doing the most to display his broken heart, Jennifer Lopez is not spending one more minute thinking about it. Sources have exclusively revealed to PEOPLE that it was JLo who ultimately ended the relationship and they note, she “insisted on it. There are too many issues that are unresolved.”
While we may not be privy to issues the couple was experiencing previously (the couple made a statement prior to the breakup noting that they were working through some things), most recently Rodriguez had his fidelity questioned by a very public outing of some DMs he exchanged with Southern Charm reality star, Madison Le Croy. Despite Le Croy confirming that the relationship was no more than a few messages and they never made plans to meet up, that was enough for Lopez.
“Whether or not he has cheated doesn’t matter,” says a music source close to Lopez. “She won’t tolerate the fear of it in the air between them.”
The former power couple had to postpone their wedding twice during the pandemic, and had several aspects of their businesses and lives completely intertwined until the breakup. While I am sure we will begin to hear the dismantling of the business relationships, the familial one might be more difficult. Rodriguez had said in the past that their kids, his daughters Natasha (16) and Ella (13), and her twins Max and Emme (13), are “best friends.”
“They’re especially sad for the kids since they are all so close,” says the Lopez friend. “It’s not a good situation but inevitable.” The MLB star recently posted an Instagram video for his daughter’s birthday, noticeably, Lopez and her kids were featured in the video.
For now, the Puerto Rican star is focusing on what brings her the most joy: her kids and her work. “Jennifer has been in these difficult situations before. She is not one to sit around and cry,” says the friend. “Her kids make her the happiest. She is doing well.”
