Daddy Yankee has reactivated his Instagram profile after apparently deleting all his social media accounts on Sunday (January 9). As of now, his official Twitter and Facebook accounts remain offline.

Yankee’s 44 million followers on Instagram are probably overjoyed the reggaeton icon returned to the platform so quickly after leaving it. Yankee has not explained why he initially deleted any of his social media accounts, but fans are asking him to return to Twitter and Facebook already.

Could Yankee’s short break from Instagram or any of his other social media accounts be some kind of public relations stunt or gimmick for an upcoming project? Or maybe Yankee wanted to take a break from all the toxicity a social media presence can include. A post on his record labels Instagram could have some clues as well as it talked about rebirth.

Yankee’s last Instagram post was on New Year’s Eve. He posted a video about what fans should expect from him in 2022. Many wondered if the post was Yankee’s way of telling everyone that he was going to retire after this year.

“Con este video revivo mi última presentación,” he wrote. “Debido a la pandemia no pude presentársela al mundo en persona. Este año 2022 daré mi última ronda en el [mundo]. En qué país me esperan? #LaUltimaVuelta #DaddyYankee #Mrsoldout.”

Yankee also posted an emoji of a goat to seemingly signify the saying: Greatest of All Time. It’s the phrases “last world tour” and “#LaUltimaVuelta” parts of his message that are a bit vague for some fans.

Last year, Daddy Yankee was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. He even bought a baseball team. Time will only tell if he decides to return to full strength on social media, but he has plenty of fans who hope he does.
