Latin America and the rest of the world continue to mourn the loss of legendary Mexican singer Vicente Fernández. “El Rey de la Música Ranchera” died on Sunday (December 12) at the age of 81. Since then, an outpouring of condolences have come through from fellow musicians like Beyoncé, George Straight, and Marc Anthony.

Now, details about his final resting place are being revealed. According to Hola!, Fernández’s remains will be interred in the garden of his ranch, Los Tres Potrillos, in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, near Guadalajara.

It is being reported that there are two plots in the garden and two tombstones. Fernández will rest in one of those spots. The second one is reserved for Fernández’s wife, Cuquita Abarca.

A memorial service took place on Sunday (December 12) for the public at the VFG Arena on the ranch. Thousands of fans attended the ceremony to say goodbye to the Mexican idol. Following the memorial, private funeral services were held for friends and family.

“Blessed God, he is already resting,” said Fernández’s daughter (niece) Alejandra. “I had the opportunity to be with him at all times. We all had it, it was difficult, but also very beautiful, very enriching.”

During the public memorial, Abarca kissed Fernández’s coffin and placed her head on top of it. Fernández’s son and singer Alejandro then sang “Amor de Los Dos” for her.

Mariachi Azteca also honored Fernández by playing “Volver Volver,” a song he had requested be played upon his death.

“I think the day that they bury me, everyone around the world will be singing this song, whether they watch on TV or in person,” Vicente Fernández said in 2014. “I hope that happens years from now.”
