The 72nd edition of the Miss Universe pageant will take place across three nights of competitions next month. The main contest will broadcast live from El Salvador exclusively in Spanish on Telemundo November 18, 2023.

However, this won’t be the only time fans will get to see Miss Universe contestants from across the globe take center stage. The pageant’s preliminary competition will stream on November 15 at 7 p.m. CT and the national costume show will stream on November 16 at 8 p.m. CT. Both events will be available to watch at the new entertainment platform Live Bash.

One contestant who is definitely ready for the national costume show is Karla Guilfú Acevedo, who is representing Puerto Rico in the competition. Her look is called “Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian.”

On Instagram, Acevedo explained that her costume “pays tribute to the architecture of Old San Juan and the exciting atmosphere of the San Sebastian Street Festivals.” The velvet skirt with black sequins features hundreds of handcrafted cobblestones like the ones found in Old San Juan.

The costume also plays tribute to places in Old San Juan, including the fountain of Paseo de la Princesa, the chapel of Santo Cristo and the panoramic view of Castillo San Felipe del Morro.

“This traditional costume, with its attention to detail and passionate homage to this celebration, is sure to capture the hearts of everyone on the Miss Universe stage,” Acevedo wrote. “I love you Puerto Rico!!!”
