El Chapo remains a free man since his July 11 prison break. After escaping from the Altiplano Federal Prison in Mexico, there were reports that El Chapo hit up the Caribbean. A source now tells Listin Diario that 100 Interpol agents have been searching for him in the Dominican Republic. They have been focused on tourist zones like Puerto Plata, Juan Dolio, Bávaro de Higüey, La Romana, and Samaná – or basically like half the country – to find El Chapo. Their search started on July 17, nearly a week after his escape. There’s something like 100 aliases associated with El Chapo, such as René Clarín and Max Aregón, that he could have used to enter the country. And DR has supposedly posted his pic everywhere in hopes of increasing their chances of catching him.
This may or may not be true, but if he is caught, he will be extradited to the United States.
