J Balvin has never been a one-lane kind of guy. He freely swerves into other roads and forms the kind of partnerships to grant him various streams of success and income. It’ll come as no surprise that the Colombian star is using this life interlude of sorts to get some new things goin’.

His colorful take on the classic Air Jordan 1s was announced earlier this year ahead of his Super Bowl LIV halftime show cameo but, due to everything going on at the moment, the launch has been postponed.

“Because of the coronavirus, they closed all the factories,” he told Highsnobiety. “But it’s going to happen maybe around November. Yeah, Jordan 1s, the first time a Latino has ever done an official collab.”

In the meantime, on Tuesday, Hypebeast confirmed Balvin and Takashi Murakami joined forces again for another smiling-flower capsule collection. Murakami has commissioned pieces for Balvin in the past and worked with him on the concept and visuals for his latest album Colores.

The capsule features Murakami’s classic flower design with a potentially recognizable spin. As you’ll recall, the art and merch for Balvin’s Energia featured a smiley with lightning bolts for eyes. The symbol is now emblematic of Balvin and his brand.

Whereas previous merch to coincide with Colores focuses on the rainbow entirely, and highlights “Amarillo” specifically (which may be a favorite of his considering it was also the first to get its own video) this drop focuses on “Blanco” and “Morado,” with a handful of clean and bright tee and sweatshirt options with a palette that, of course, includes black.

The line is exclusively available in-store at JOYCE locations in Hong Kong and online with JOYCE Concierge starting April 25.
