You don’t need to be a total tarot reading expert to get advice straight from the universe. Remezcla’s got you covered. And who am I? I’m Sofía, an intuitive tarot reader, writer, and fellow astrology enthusiast, with three years of experience. Every month, I will shuffle my deck and ask “what do these signs need to know about the upcoming month?” I pick three cards for each Zodiac element, break down what each of them mean, and explain how they connect to you.

Every Zodiac sign has a corresponding element that groups them together: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are air signs; Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are fire signs; Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are earth signs; and Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are water signs.

So, read the message that corresponds to your sun sign — the one that falls on your birthday. Or if you’re a super astrology fan, read the messages that correspond to your Big Three (sun, moon, and rising signs). For example, I’m an Aquarius sun, Aries moon, and Taurus rising. To find out your own Big Three, input your birth information here to create your birth chart.

Keep on reading to see what the cards have to say about the month ahead. Good luck!

Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)

Ace of Swords for January tarot

Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius got Three of Swords reversed, Ace of Swords, and The Sun. Three of Swords reversed is negative self-talk, releasing pain, optimism, and forgiveness. Ace of Swords is breakthroughs, new ideas, mental clarity, and success. And finally, The Sun is positivity, fun, warmth, success, and vitality.

Great news, dear air signs! You’re really feeling the new year energy this month, and I absolutely love that for you. You said goodbye to that negative self-talk and left it all behind in 2024. Because of that, your mind is clear and bursting with fresh new ideas. Take advantage of that: write everything down; get started on an exciting project; reach out to people in your network; get back in touch with friends. It seems like whatever you decide to try out, it will definitely work out in your favor during January.

Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius got Seven of Pentacles, Knight of Swords, and Page of Pentacles. Seven of Pentacles is long-term view, sustainable results, perseverance, and investment. Knight of Swords represents ambitious, action-oriented, driven to succeed, and fast-thinking. And finally, Page of Pentacles is manifestation, financial opportunity, and skill development.

You’ll have so much energy this month, fire signs, but don’t let a “lack of immediate results” bring you down. The universe really wants you to hit the ground running on this one. It’s all about the action in January for you—whether that’s starting that project you’ve been overthinking or taking a class for something that excites you. You won’t see the results you’ve imagined right away, but don’t give it up just because the universe is asking for your patience!

Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Five of Swords

Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn got Five of Swords, Queen of Wands reversed, and Six of Wands reversed. Five of Swords represents conflict, disagreements, competition, defeat, and winning at all costs. Queen of Wands reversed is self-respect, self-confidence, introverted, and re-establish sense of self. And finally, Six of Wands reversed is private achievement and personal definition of success.

Sometimes a personal win is a public loss, earth signs. January is all about personal and private achievements. Take the time this month to talk to yourself, journal, and figure out who you want to be this new year—and what that version of you wants from their life. Answer the question: “What is my personal definition of success?” People around you might not get it, but that’s fine, because they don’t have to. The only one who has to get it is you. Take the high ground, be the bigger person, and walk away if something isn’t lining up with you personal definition of success.

Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)

Ten of Wands
Art by Stephany Torres

Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces got Ten of Wands, The Hanged Man reversed, and The Hermit reversed. Ten of Wands represents burden, extra responsibility, hard work, and completion. The Hanged Man reversed is delays, resistance, stalling, and indecision. And finally, The Hermit reversed is isolation, loneliness, and withdrawal.

Unfortunately, I don’t have great news for you, water signs. This January will be a bit of a frustrating and lonely one. You might find yourself extremely busy—either with your job, chores around the house, or in your relationships, carrying the emotional labor. There might be some delays or resistance in that environment that makes your stress even worse, which may cause you to overreact. Take a few deep breaths, water signs, and communicate your feelings. Some alone time may actually do you wonders this month—take advantage of it and find the space for relaxation.

Make sure to come back on February 1st for next month’s tarot reading here at Remezcla.
