Twitter is alive after Lauren Sanchez, Jeff Bezos’s girlfriend, was caught on video falling head over heels for Leonardo DiCaprio. They were at the LACMA Art+Film Gala in Los Angeles over the weekend when the fates aligned for the encounter. The viral video shows Sanchez standing close and looking up to DiCaprio with a big smile on her face as she talks with him.

Perhaps, like most of us, she was just swept up in the memories of watching DiCaprio in Titanic. Who didn’t fall in love with the actor as he raced around the doomed cruiseliner? There are still tears being shed over his (totally avoidable) death at the end. Either way, the Internet saw the video and immediately people started to do exactly what the Internet likes to do.

The video received so much attention that the one and only Bezos took to Twitter to get in on the joke, even if it felt like the vestiges of toxic masculinity taking hold, as he leaned over a sign that said, “Danger! Steep cliff. Fatal drop.”

People were also ruthlessly claiming that the interaction proves that money just can’t stand up to good looks and star power. Her face lights up at the presence of the movie star and it is easy to understand that seeing someone of that stature would throw anyone for a loop.

It bears repeating that the narrative some people are walking away with is that money stands no chance against the kind of looks and charisma DiCaprio possesses. The video really makes it seem like Bezos could not have avoided that encounter if he tried. Sanchez wanted to meet DiCaprio and we hope it was everything she ever expected.
