Karol G’s Con Cora Foundation has formed an alliance with the Mesa de Mujeres Miami to kick off the Madres Migrando en Bienestar (Mothers Migrating in Well-being) project, which supports migrant mothers in South Florida.
This is Con Cora Foundation’s first long-term partnership outside Colombia. The initiative is supported by the Colombian Consulate in Miami. It offers free childcare for children under 5 years of age, so that mothers can work, learn English or earn a university degree. Mothers interested in the project must have migrated to the U.S. in the last eight years.
“We are committed to empowering migrant mothers and providing them with the support they need to move forward with their lives in the United States,” Valentina Bueno, director of the Con Cora Foundation, said in a statement. “With this project, we not only offer them safe childcare, but also the opportunity to advance their personal and professional goals while building a better future for their families.”
Recently, the Con Cora Foundation launched the Becas Con Cora en Educación Superior (Con Cora Scholarships in Higher Education) at EAFIT Medellin University. The scholarship aims to reach talented and empowered women leaders. Applications for the scholarship are open until November 19. Last month, Karol G received the Spirit of Hope Award at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards. The award was created in honor of Selena Quintanilla, and is given to an artist who has “demonstrated exceptional commitment to civic, community, and humanitarian causes beyond their artistic success.”
