It’s possible to learn new languages through your surroundings, but where it gets interesting is what you’re learning. Leave it to our communities to keep it interesting… and funny. On TikTok, Kylie Jenner recorded herself getting glam this week, and during her selfie video, you hear her makeup and hair artists — Ariel Tejada and Jesus Guerrero — enunciating “careculo” in the background. Yes, “assface” in Spanish.

When Jenner asks them, “What are you talking about,” the two artists break into laughter. She begs the question, “What does it mean?” They respond: “It means assface.”

Viewers joined in with Kylie laughing in the comments, with one TikTok user writing, “Time to learn Spanish Kylie lol.” Another chimed in, “at least they told her what it actually means HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA”

This exchange is turning into a viral TikTok sound, and many Latine creators are having fun with the audio. Some are creating duets in reaction to the post, while others are using it as a soundtrack to relatable Latine moments.

This ‘word of the day’ moment isn’t the first time her glam team has immersed Kylie Jenner in the culture. A few years ago, she posted several Snapchat videos speaking Spanish with Tejada, her makeup artist. In that same series of videos, the MUA also tried to get her to learn merengue.

Who agrees that it’s always amusing to see our people having fun with their cultural language while working? This is especially true in a world where code-switching is all too real.
