- Despite progress in the number of people vaccinated in the U.S., at least 10 states have seen reported increases of 10% or more in their daily average coronavirus cases when compared to last week, according to Johns Hopkins University data. Many states are reporting an increase in the spread of variants that are more infectious and may defeat immunity. [CNN]
- In what’s seen as a win for the Biden Administration, the House voted to pass a bill that offers potential paths toward citizenship for Dreamers and agricultural workers who are undocumented. - A criminal gang ambush ended with the deaths of 13 police officers in Mexico. The officers, part of a police convoy, had been patrolling the area to reportedly combat armed gang activity. No organized criminal gang has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. 500 police officers were murdered in Mexico just last year. [BBC]
- Pressure for the Biden administration to raise sanctions against Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández continues to mount. Hernández is facing accusations that include ties to organized crime, election fraud, stifling free speech, and more. Hernández’s current term ends in 2023. [NPR]
