The Orange County Museum of Art: Glenn Ligon & Daniel J. Martinez

The Orange County Museum of Art has undertaken a huge project – pairing classic OCMA artists with newer or different artists. For September 4th, the museum matches iconic artist Glenn Ligon with Daniel J. Martinez, an Angeleno artist. Ligon’s “Prisoner of Love #4” will be shown next to Martinez’s “The House that America Built,” a huge installation piece based on Ted Kaczynki’s, aka the Unabomber’s, Montana cabin. Expect interesting reactions from museum-goers and note the paint on the cabin – it’s Martha Stewart brand. More details on the exhibition can be found here.

I Art You 78/83

Lee Queza and Daniel Calderon, the duo known as I Art You 78/83 took advantage of the latest zombie craziness (tu sabes, that guy who ate another guy’s face off?) for their show “Celebrity Bath Salts.” Basically, you get to see famous people reinvented as zombies, with their flesh falling off or their eyes missing. Swing by Pop tArt Gallery on Saturday, September 8th at 7 p.m. to have a drink and maybe fall in love with a zombie or two.
