Since 2015, Latino Victory Foundation has hosted Latino Talks, a fireside-chat-style conversation that honors those in our community who have made a mark in politics, activism, the arts, business and other industries. This year, the event will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Hamilton Live in Washington, DC. And once again, it’s packed with prominent voices – including recording artist iLe and One Day at a Time‘s Justina Machado – from our communities.

“Latino Talks is a celebration of the valuable cultural currency that Latinos contribute to this great nation,” said Melissa Mark-Viverito, Latino Victory Foundation’s interim president, in a press release.

“At a time when Latinos are being vilified, gatherings like Latino Talks are critical because the help us reaffirm our presence – this too is our home, and we are not going away. The Latino Victory Foundation is honored to announce our lineup of stellar Latinas who are transforming our nation’s cultural landscape through their work and voice, and ensuring that our community remains strong and visible.”

This year, Latino Victory will have an all-female lineup. On May 8, singer iLe, actress Justina Machado, Congresswoman Verónica Escobar, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia, Rep. Nydia Velázquez, novelist Naima Coster, journalist Laura Barrón-López, immigration activist Astrid Silva, and filmmaker Karla Cantú Luna will be on hand to discuss how they have made themselves “visible” – which is this year’s theme – at a time when our communities are constantly under attack.

In the past, Latino Talks has had engaging conversations with Eva Longoria, presidential hopeful Julián Castro, and journalist María Elena Salinas.

Tickets for this year’s event range from $35 to $100. Purchase them here.
