Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda is not throwing away his shot to have an impact on the upcoming Senate runoff elections in Georgia.

The Hamilton composer, lyricist, and actor is teaming up with legendary Seattle rock band Pearl Jam to fundraise for Democrat candidates Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock in their respective races. If both win, Democrats and Republicans would each have 50 members in the U.S. Senate. That means, soon-to-be Vice-President Kamala Harris could be the tie-breaking vote when members voted down party lines on legislation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, proceeds from the one-night-only fundraiser will go to the Latino Victory Project, Latino Community Fund of Georgia and The Hispanic Federation. The fundraiser will include Miranda and Pearl Jam having “a candid conversation in which they will discuss their artistic inspirations and why they use their voices for change.”

“I’ve long admired Pearl Jam’s music and commitment to advocacy—and their music has made an impact on me since I was a teenager,” Miranda told THR. “I haven’t met them yet but have wanted to for a long time.

We thought it would be fun to meet in front of our fans, while raising awareness and resources to make sure we get out the vote for the Georgia runoff election.”

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder added that he and his bandmates are excited to work with Miranda and raise money for progressive organizations.

“Georgia came through for America and now it’s time for America to come through for Georgia,” said Vedder.

The fundraiser takes place Dec. 16, at 8:30pm ET on the Looped virtual platform.
