The men of Mequetrefe aren’t opposed to long windedness. The Santiago de Compostela band regularly delves into seven-minute tracks, sometimes even stretching it to 12. This unfiltered resolve is part of their charm, allowing their already commingled instrumentations to further bleed into one another. The result is both affecting and exhausting.

The group is now preparing their second album, Gobi, the follow up to their January-released EP, A serious band. The first single is “Orange,” a busy, hyper, extended jolt. The guitars are crisp, the voices warbled, and the reverb constant. It’s what we mean when we say the word “expansive.” You can stream all four versions of the single below.
