Manu Chao at the National Democratic Convention?

Manu Chao is coming to town!  The globe-trotter cantante will be performing this Friday at the awesome Outside Lands Festival along with Cafe Tacvba, Los Amigos Invisibles, Rodrigo y Gabriela and then will head to  Austin City Limits on August 26th (The Mars Volta, CSS, Jose Gonzalez are some of the Latin talent here).

As we all know, Manu Chao concerts are more than that, its like attending a cult service in the best sense possible. Few performers can move and inspire audiences like that. So, we’re just wondering: will an appearance at the Democratic National Convention in Denver on August 27th be next? Josh Norek from Cookman International (Manu’s management and record label in the US) is now working with Voto Latino, so our wishful thinking might not be that far off. Manu Chao pumping fists with Obama might be the ultimate rock star move for the Democratic Presidential hopeful. Uy, se nos paran los pelos!

Below, a rare TV interview of Manu earlier this year with English Larry King-esque Sir David Frost (who’s rocking them red socks!, pretty funny.)
