Before the world premiere of the newest Marvel film, Eternals, in Hollywood Tuesday night (October 19), Marvel executive Victoria Alonso joined star Salma Hayek on the blue carpet. The two shared a few words in Spanish.

Hayek had just finished doing an interview alongside co-star Don Lee with hosts Tamara Krinsky and James Arthur when Alonso stepped up to say hello. After exchanging a few pleasantries, Alonso, originally from Argentina, started speaking to Krinsky and Arthur in Spanish before Hayek let her know that they didn’t know the language.

“I’m not interested. Let everyone learn,” Alonso responded in Spanish, making a gesture to the cameras to indicate that by “everyone,” she meant everyone watching.

“This is how international the movie is,” Arthur chimed in before Alonso switched to English.

“Here you have the first Latina, the first South Korean … God bless Eternals,” Alonso said.

After Hayek and Lee left, Alonso hung around and talked about the importance of a film as diverse as Eternals being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “When you look at the cast, and you see the film, my words will not mean anything,” she said. “You just have to take a look. We have a lot of representation tonight. Chloé Zhao has made a fabulous film.”

Last month, Alonso was promoted to president of physical, post-production, VFX, and animation at Marvel Studios.
