Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto may have been trying to show that he understands the interwebs by posting a prep video before his Tercer Informe de Gobierno on Facebook. Shown putting on his presidential sash, it starts off ok;he knows his lines, and seems even somewhat competent. Then, he walks over to get his sash and almost drops it, and the camera quickly swivels away, as if to avoid catching any EPN blunders on camera. And yet, they weirdly didn’t edit this whole part out of the video before posting. Later, when someone begins speaking to him, EPN freaks out, reminding the speaker multiple times that “te estan escuchando,” because maybe he thought he was on Periscope and not being shot vertically on a cell phone?

The only thing we learned from this video is that EPN uses double-sided tape like our faves do on the red carpet. We didn’t know he was #Sofashun. The only thing that could have made this clip more awkward is a sassy appearance from La Gaviota.
Anwyay, the whole attempt to be tech-savvy thing ended up being a fail for EPN, because most of the comments on the video read like this:
