Last night, Univision aired “El Gran Encuentro con El Gobernador Mitt Romney” – the first of two nights of conversations with the 2012 presidential candidates held at the University of Miami (Barack Obama’s airs tonight, if you don’t have Univision you can watch the live stream here). I tuned in to see whether my boo Jorge Ramos could force any specifics on immigration policy out of Mitt’s standard circumlocutions, but unfortunately I kept getting distracted by the fact that Mitt looked like a Cheeto. He looked like he put two cucumbers over his eyes and then let his makeup artist blast him with a spray tan made of Dorito dust and rust flakes.
This tan transformation seemed a little abrupt and startling to me, but just to be sure it wasn’t a gradual process that had escaped my detection I decided to browse through some of Mitt’s campaign photos from the last few weeks. Results show what seems to be total tan inconsistency. Makes sense, inconsistency is kind of his thing:
August 31, 2012: moderate tan.
September 1, 2012: Oh hi freckle tan.
September 5, 2012: I have a pair of boots this color. They’re cute.
September 7, 2012: Dark Mitt X
September 12, 2012: Wait. Your tan is fading, do something Mittens
September 19: OOMPA LOOMPA STEEZ
