This month, actress Mj Rodriguez announced that she is the first-ever trans Latinx spokesperson for beauty brand Olay Body.

“Olay Body is leading by example for other brands by opening doors for trans individuals like myself,” the Pose star said in a statement, as reported by Queerty. “I am so excited to work with Olay Body on this campaign.”

The gig also marks the Puerto Rican-African American actress’s first beauty campaign.

“I am so thankful to have the opportunity to show other trans women of color everywhere that they are seen and that they are worthy,” she continued.

In addition to her notable role as celebrity spokesperson for Olay Beauty, the 28-year-old also recently hit stages as the keynote speaker for George Washington University’s 5th Annual Diversity Summit as well as a speaker at Glamour’s Women of the Year Summit.

“I’m excited to speak to these young individuals who want to learn, or just want to hear my story, because I have a lot to say,” Rodriguez told Glamour about her recent public speaking opportunities. “And I want to influence them, but the only way for me to do that is to feel comfortable enough in my own skin.”

On the Golden Globe-nominated series Pose, Rodriguez plays the lead character Blanca, a trans Afro-Latina mother of a mixed-race house that competes in New York’s ’80s queer ballroom scene.
