Neil deGrasse Tyson: “The Starship Enterprise Would Wipe Its Ass With the Millennium Falcon”

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson – aka the “Ay si, Ay si” guy – continues to hilariously shit on nerd dreams by pointing out the scientific flaws in popular sci-fi movies.

We all remember this fact-checking Tweet spree back when Cuarón’s Gravity was in theaters:

And this year, after the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Neil was back at it. While he took to his Twitter to recognize BB-8’s cuteness, he was quick to point out that the character couldn’t possibly get around on sand.

Last night on Conan, NdGT discussed his controversial assertion that the Star Trek’s Starship Enterprise would demolish Star Wars’ Millennium Falcon. And by controversial, we mean only Star Wars fans cared that he said this and were apparently incensed.

But Neil, who was wearing a sun and stars-themed vest, stood by his words. “Star Wars fans are prickly people. I mean, you can’t say anything bad,” he said, adding that people genuinely ask him questions. “I got asked, ‘Who would win in a contest between the Starship Enterprise or the Millennium Falcon?’ And I said, ‘The Starship Enterprise would wipe its ass with the Millennium Falcon.’ It’s very simple. It would just swat it out of its way.”

Now, NdGT wonders if he should continue to tweet about movies. His Gravity tweets brought us so much joy, so it would be a real bummer if he decided to stop.
