During the 72nd Miss Universe pageant on Saturday (November 18th) it was revealed that Mexico would host the 73rd annual event. The announcement was made by businessman Raúl Rocha Cantú during a video presentation.

“Its beauty is infinite, like a dreamy landscape. The most ample traditional cuisine, a legacy from the ancestral Aztec and Mayan culture,” Rocha Cantú said. “With great love and respect for my country. How could I not love it? With all these beautiful things combined, it has everything!”

He continued. “I’m very proud to announce that next year, 2024, the host country for Miss Universe will be Mexico! I invite the entire world to a once-in-a-lifetime event, enjoying Mexico, through its culture, cuisine, music, and it’s charming and unforgettable tourist destinations. Miss Universe! Mexico gives you the most cordial welcome.”

Mexico has hosted the event on four previous occasions, in 1978, 1989, 1993, and 2007.

Miss Nicaragua was crowned Miss Universe 2023 during the 72nd Miss Universe pageant, which was held in El Salvador. It was the first time Nicaragua has won the competition and the first time the country ever made it into the Top 5 finalists.
