Keep your carnitas and your carne asada. Whachoo know ’bout some nopales? Phoenix’s celebration of cooking cactus takes the form of Nopalpalooza, a food and art event intended to raise funds for the Desert Mission Food bank and to raise awareness of this most Mexican of foodstuffs. The event is held at The Hive, and is a collaboration between local Latino street artist Joe Ray and Hip Veggies founder Monika Woolsey.
