JUST ANOTHER MONDAY (J.A.M.) AT TRANSIT LOUNGE

The Gist of It: J.A.M. is a weekly session with an element of surprise every time.  Each Monday,  musicians from all levels of talent can sign up to perform on stage. Once the lineup is decided, the jam session begins.
Hosts:
Juan Turros, known for his saxophone/composer talents.
Why You Should Go: Where else will you find some of Miami’s greatest musicians, such as Locos por Juana and Suénalo, sharing the stage with wonderful unknowns who’ll be the next big thing?

TUESDAYS

AFROBETA SESSIONS AT JAZID


Time: 11pm- 3am

The Gist of It: On Tuesday nights, Jazid turns into a hub for electro-funk when it hosts Afrobeta. Cuci Amador and Tony Smurphio provide a contagious energy and vibrant kind of music that is simply irresistible . Downstairs,  the main floor  features DJ’s Strictly B and Will Renuart, while the upstairs is open territory for DJs and producers to show off their laptop mixing tricks.

Why You Should Go: The dynamic duo won Miami New Times‘ Battle of the Bands 2009, and Best Electronic Band in 2007. Why wouldn’t you want a chance to see them for free, every week?

WEDNESDAYS

LISET ALEA AT CLUB 50


Time: 8pm

The Gist of It: There’s always a chance to get down and dirty in Miami, but this performance is for a classier crowd. Hosted 50 stories above the city, Club 50 at the Viceroy Hotel provides a unique stage every Wednesday for talented singer-songwriter Liset Alea. Performing with her Sexy Trio, Alea takes on hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s adding a bossa-nova twist of her own.

Why You Should Go: The intimate music of this ultra-cool and talented singer, combined with the view makes for a great Wednesday night hot spot, and we can’t complain about the Atlantico Rum specials cocktails either.

THURSDAYS

SPAM ALLSTARS AT HOY COMO AYER

t: You don’t have to wear a collared shirt or fancy boots to attend this booty-shakin Thursday weekly. All you need is a couple O’ bucks, a good attitude, and love for Latin/funk music infused with electronic beats. DJ Le Spam and the Spam Allstars present their genius blend of saxophone, flute, guitar and trombone with electronic elements like turntables, FX and samplers, bringing everyone to the dance floor.

Why You Should Go: You can salsa, break dance, or fist pump. Anything goes with this party! Plus, DJ Le Spam and family feels like home…home is where the sweat is.

ARROZ CON LECHE AT TRANSIT LOUNGE

The Gist of It:
At 10pm, Los Angeles moves to Miami with Arroz Con Leche, a free party of cumbia, salsa, tropical bass, reggae and more. The event kicked off recently with a performance by Ephniko and DJ Ras Pablo. On top of that, guest Que Bajo DJs (Uproot Andy and Gecko Jones) who came down from NYC to party. With all this music, it’s no wonder  the party lasts till 5am!

Why You Should Go: ACL originally started in LA, running from Sept 2005 to October 2006 . After creating huge success and buzz for Latino artists, ACL decided to spread it’s love to the 305. More than just a night of good music, Arroz con Leche is an industry social gathering, where you can mix and network with musicians, producers, directors, models, and more.

Saturday is the heart of the weekend, and Fabrika brings a weekly party perfect for Miami nightlife. Starting at 9pm, don’t miss the  Bud Light open bar from 10-1130pm. Once you’ve had enough to get moving, DJ Pauer and DJ Jhonny throw down a mix of Latin pop, rock, lounge and house.

Why You Should Go: This now landmark venue  claims its “a new night of extreme rumba,” but it’s no surprise what awaits at La Covacha: clasicos Latinos that make you get crrrazy. Before you throw on your heels and hit the club, make sure to RSVP!

While you can find the typical Sunday night striptease party at Mansion, or DJs spinning beats around the city, the Latin parties seem to cool down on tonight.  What the heck is going on??? Perhaps everyone is en la misa shaking off their weekly guilt?
