Everyone knows haters gonna hate, but Netflix and its rebooted series  Rebelde aren’t interested in hearing any of the negative commentaries. In fact, the official Instagram for the new show posted a video Monday (October 18) letting their critics know that there is plenty more to come whether they like it or not.

“For better or for worse, you close your eyes and you’re already thinking of me,” the Rebelde Instagram reads. “Hello Haters.”

By the end, the video concludes with the elusive message, “See you October 20,” hinting at more to come in just two days.

Rebelde follows a group of private school students in Mexico City who form a band. In the original 2004 series, the band portrayed on TV also performed in real life as RBD.

When the first teaser trailer for the new series debuted online late last month, it was met with an onslaught of negative online comments and memes about the new show, which premieres next year. Rebelde’s social media account shared some of the mean tweets in a video it posted to counter the jabs it was receiving.

Fans of the original series seemed unhappy with a lot of what they saw in the first trailer and vented about their disappointment virtually. Some were upset at the characters’ fashion choices, while others urged Netflix to cancel the show even before it premiered. There were also a lot of sick and vomiting emojis used in the comments featured.

Actress Azul Guaita, who will play the character Jana Cohen on the new series, also shared the video on her own account to make the point that they were tuning out all the bad vibes. “Hola haters,” she echoed.

Rebelde premieres on Netflix March 1, 2022.
