This Vibrant Rosalía x MAC Collab Gives Back To Folks Who Need It Most

Rosalía has partnered with MAC Cosmetics to become their latest Viva Glam ambassador. Their limited edition orangey-red matte lipstick (VG26) comes just in time for Fall and celebrates Viva Glam’s 26th anniversary.

The Spanish singer-songwriter who is well known for her fusion of flamenco, pop, reggaeton, hip hop and electronic sounds tells Vogue, “Red is my favorite color, it always reminds me of flamenco.” She recalls how her flamenco icons would juxtapose a masculine look with a bold red lip, which inspires her own sense of style and beauty.

“The incredible charisma, energy, and strength of Rosalía is the perfect incarnation of this vibrant, saturated red,” MAC’s director of makeup artistry Baltasar González Pinel further details in a press release before getting into her art form. “Taking its roots in flamenco, Rosalía’s art mixes genres and emotions—it takes risks, it is full of generosity, it is pure brilliance.”

From its inception in 1994, Viva Glam has raised awareness and support of women’s equal rights, girls, the LGBTQ+ community, and those affected with HIV/AIDS. This year, it has pledged 10 million dollars to 250 organizations to support Black and Latinx communities that have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There are so many communities that have been affected by COVID,” Rosalía said, “I am happy to be able to contribute just a little to help people during this time.”

VG26 drops on September 25th and is now available for preorder for $19 on MAC cosmetics.
