As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread across the globe, celebrities are coming together to raise and donate funds to those who have been impacted by the virus. There are a handful of initiatives that politicians and celebrities, such as Rosie Perez, Demi Lovato, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Stacey Abrams have backed and donated to in collaboration with notable organizations.

Project 100 has raised more than $55 million of a $100 million goal so far. They aim “to distribute $1,000 digital payments to 100,000 families who have been severely impacted by the pandemic,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The initiative is reportedly led by Propel, GiveDirectly and Stand for Children.

Demi Lovato has backed The Mental Health Fund initiative, founded by the Crisis Text Line, to provide mental health services to those in need. “So far, $2 million has been raised to support the work of organizations that provide crisis intervention via text message, 24/7,” shares THR.

Rosie Perez, Spike Lee, Lupita Nyong’o and others have partnered with Jeffrey Wright’s Brooklyn for Life!, which is now an official organization that seeks to help healthcare workers and first responders on the frontlines, as well as small businesses (such as local restaurants) who are facing financial hardships.

On their GoFundMe page, Wright states that “100% of all monies raised (beyond GoFundMe’s processing fee & legal fees) will be used to provide meals from Brooklyn for Life! partner restaurants to the men and women on the frontlines.”
