Tessa Thompson, Salma Hayek, & More Latinx Stars Selected For Hollywood Walk of Fame’s Class of 2022

Salma Hayek (Frida) and Tessa Thompson (Creed) are two of the handful of Latinx entertainers selected to receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Class of 2022.

Hayek and Thompson form part of the 38 honorees who will get their star unveiled on the walkway next year and become forever enshrined in Hollywood history. Along with actors in film and television, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce also selects performers from the categories of live theater, radio, and sports entertainment.

Hayek broke into the Hollywood industry in Robert Rodriguez’s 1995 action flick Desperado. She then starred in films like Fools Rush InWild Wild West, and Beatriz at Dinner. Later this year, she will make history as the first Latina Marvel superhero in Eternals.

Thompson started her career on Veronica Mars before making a name for herself in films like Dear White PeopleSelma, and Creed. Like Hayek, she is also part of the Marvel Universe, playing the character Valkyrie, who will make her third appearance in Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder next year.

Joining Hayek and Thompson within the Latinx stars chosen for the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s 2022 class are Los Huracanes Del Norte in the recording category and Angélica Vale for live theater.

Vale, who got her big break on the Mexican telenovela La Fea Más Bella, posted a video on Twitter saying she was “speechless” when she found out she was chosen for the honor. “Dreams come true,” she says. “I think I’m still in shock. This is amazing. I’m so happy.”

The norteño band, Los Huracanes Del Norte, from Michoacán, Mexico, have been playing together since 1969 and have released over 900 songs throughout their career, including “Corrido de Daniel Treviño.” They are still popular today throughout Mexico and the U.S.
