Selena Gomez recently stepped into her own controversy with a TikTok duet she did with a naturopathic doctor talking about healthy drinking habits. In the video, the doctor explains what is meant by heavy alcohol consumption and Gomez reacts, allegedly as a joke, hinting that she might be drinking too much.

“The [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] defines heavy drinking as 15 or more drinks a week for men and eight drinks per week for women,” Dr. Dawn Bantel, the Arizona-based doctor, says in the video.

Gomez reacts by biting her fingernail and simply saying, “Oh.”

The moment created a backlash in her comments on the video with people recalling her kidney transplant. People were upset that Gomez would seemingly be drinking in excess as a kidney transplant recipient and she was not about to let them drag her.

One user was a bit too much for Gomez and she clapped back in a response to the comment.

“So one of your best friends gives you her kidney and you continue to drink in excess. Damn Selena,” wrote TikTok user goodbase.

“It’s a joke ass,” Gomez responded to the comment.

Other users came to her defense citing their own kidney transplants and how their doctors have told them they can drink as long as they are careful and stay hydrated.

This isn’t the first time Selena Gomez has had to stand up for herself and her kidney transplant. Recently, the singer and actor hit back at popular television shows using her transplant story as a joke, including The Good Fight and Saved By the Bell.
